The Stay Calm Project

Led by Justin Chung, under the supervision of Dr Kate Woodcock, Centre for Applied Psychology, University of Birmingham

Who?

Parents or caregivers of individuals between the ages of 6 and 25, who have emotional outbursts at least once a month.

What?

In this study, we want to speak to parents and caregivers via one-on-one interviews to find out how emotional outbursts affect young people, and why emotional outbursts happen in certain situations.

Why?

We feel that it is very important to communicate the views and experiences of parents and caregivers through our research. Your views and ideas will help us think about how we could create strategies to support families, and the ways we could measure emotional outbursts.

How?

If you have not taken part in our previous study, you may have to complete some online questionnaires asking about your child's outbursts and background information, which will take around 30-60 minutes. You will then speak to a researcher in a one-on-one interview, which will take around 1 hour. Interviews will take place remotely (phone/internet call).

Please contact us if you would like to take part or to find out more.
